We only provide Bed & Breakfast accommodation.

SERVICE: You can expect good clean rooms as described in these pages.

We present you with clean and pleasant rooms and expect you to use them in a civilised manner.

Before booking, please read the room descriptions carefully and ascertain that all your requirements will be met by what we have on offer.
If you have further questions please send an email, you will normally receive a helpful answer on the same day.

Breakfast is included and is served usually between 8 and 9.30 to your room. Other times by prior arrangement.


For 2010 we have ONE double ensuite available. Please note that Porthtowan Heights is not a hotel, it's a private B+B in a private house. We have no hotel facilities or services, but we have an excellent room with a fantastic outlook for you to enjoy. You also have private access to your room so that you do not have to enter via the main house. And the view from your room is directly out over the open sea, completely unobstructed. The perfect peaceful retreat!

SEA VIEWS: you have a spectacular unobstructed view from your room over the open sea.

We do not allow smoking anywhere in the house or grounds.
If you enjoy smoking, please book elsewhere.


PAYMENT: We only take advance bookings, paid for in full via Paypal. This is secure for you and convenient for you and us. The Paypal method is very simple, you receive a simple invoice from them with clear instructions on how to make payment, when payment has been made your booking is fully secured. Until payment is made in this way, rooms remain on the open market even if 'pencilled in'.

DEPOSITS: We don't operate a deposit system. Often, the amounts involved are small and do not merit payment by instalment. Also, the additional correspondence or phone-calls thereby generated is not merited for small sums.

You don't have to pay on the day you enquire...however rooms remain on the open market until paid for.

If you feel that our payment terms are not to your liking, then please book elsewhere. Many of our guests have rejoiced that they're not required to post cheques or divulge their credit card details. A quick online payment and everything is booked and confirmed. This is our only payment option for 2010. Visitors from America and Australia this year have congratulated us on using the paypal system as it's all online and very simple and secure.

CANCELLATIONS: If there is any likelihood that you might need to cancel, please take out private holiday insurance. You may prefer to POSTPONE, which will incur no loss of monies.

We aim to be fair to you and us if cancellations occur.


Over 6 weeks notice full refund. (less 5% Paypal and admin fees)
Cancellation 6 weeks prior: 75% refund. (less 5% Paypal and admin fees)
Cancellation 4 weeks prior: 50% refund. (less 5% Paypal and admin fees)
Cancellation less than 4 weeks: NO REFUND unless rooms are subsequently let.
 
We regret that it's often impossible to fill rooms at short notice as most people have made their arrangements long before, but if we are able to fill cancelled rooms, we will do our best to pass on some of the benefit to you. We will be as fair as possible to all parties in these matters.

IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT CANCELLATION, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TAKE OUT PRIVATE INSURANCE. This is not costly for the small sums involved, and will protect you in case of family circumstances, automotive difficulties, earthquake, fire and flood etc...

Please read our Room Description before booking, and ensure that the room you are booking meets all your requirements and expectations, if in doubt, email us first with your questions. We'll be happy to help.

we are actually ON the cliffpath, so no trekking inland for your digs, and we have arranged a 'get-you-home' service with local taxis, so you can set off in the mornings, stop at some wayside pub, and be collected and brought back here or to your car.

Note to SURFERS:

private steps down to beach, fresh-water shower on our boardwalk for wetsuits and gear. Safe storage for boards/kites/mountain bikes etc.

Note to CYCLISTS:

Safe storage for machines and hose-down facilities for mucky bikes. Wide selection of spanners and dry workshop available.

Note to ANGLERS:

in theory you could lie in bed and fish out of the open window! Our beach is popular with beach anglers, including all-nighters. Bring us back a few Macklers or Bass, and we'll get the barbie out! Junior Walters has a fishing smack out of Portreath and will take you out to deep water for an hour or two, hand-lining or rod-fishing for mackerel.

Note to PARENTS:

your children are most welcome, but be aware that our garden is on the cliff-edge. There are no fences to spoil the views and we're not planning on building any. Porthtowan Heights is perfectly safe, but you must look after your children at all times and personally escort them if using the steps to the beach, or anywhere precarious. We provide 'bed-bags' for children if you wish them to share your room. We have free-range chickens, and the children may feed them with breakfast leftovers.

Note to DOG OWNERS: We do not accept dogs and they are banned from the beach.


Allergy sufferers: Please note that 1 cat and several chickens live here. Pollen count is usually low as prevailing winds are inshore. (Cats are not allowed in your room but they may occasionally sneak in if your door is left open, you have a cat-proof 'tilt&swivel' door for ventilation). If you have any other allergies please consider carefully before booking.
